Wisdom doesn’t force itself upon us. We have to go out and get it. So we start with the decision to passionately pursue wisdom.
Why pursue something with such passion? Because wisdom has no equal. It’s a prize that makes winning the lotto jackpot look little!

How can you passionately pursue wisdom? By reading each day the chapter of Proverbs that corresponds to the date—Chapter 1 on the 1st of the month, Chapter 2 on the 2nd, and so on. Billy Graham did this very thing every day for over seventy years!

2. Partner in wisdom with others
Life’s graveyard is filled with good intentions that went nowhere because people thought they didn’t need others on the journey. We absolutely need others to succeed in life. Others are essential to our success—and that’s particularly true in the pursuit of wisdom.
“If you want to grow in wisdom, spend time with the wise.”

If we want to make a difference, we need to become wise, and a key method to become wise is to pursue wisdom with others. That is why The Wisdom Challenge isn’t for you alone; it’s for you and other people you invite to join you on the journey. Wisdom always comes in the context of relationships.
Think of how we can grow in wisdom if we partner with twelve different people over twelve months, each time going through the entire book of Proverbs! Invite someone each month to be your Proverbs Partner. Each day share your choice verse from the chapter and a brief reflection about how God is speaking to your heart.
Build a list of Proverbs Partners you can invite to join you in the pursuit of wisdom: a close friend, a new acquaintance, a spouse, a child, a cousin, a parent, a colleague, a neighbor, a classmate…the opportunities are limitless. We have done The Wisdom Challenge with hundreds of Proverbs Partners and have a running list of over a hundred others we will ask to do it with us!
3. Pass wisdom on
Wisdom is not just something to be pursued; it’s something to be shared, to be given away freely and generously to others in our lives. Your impact in multiplying wisdom comes when you encourage your Proverbs Partner to “pass it on” by choosing a new Proverbs Partner each month and encouraging their partners to do the same with others. We call this growing our “Wisdom Tree.”
