Let Me Introduce You
If you met Jesus in my last blog, you know by now how important He is to you along your journey to your destiny and eternal life with Him. As Jesus walked on this earth for thirty-three years, He experienced and witnessed all areas of human life. He certainly gained a personal understanding of man’s frailties and weaknesses.
God’s salvation plan for His children couldn’t succeed without supernatural intervention. Jesus opened the door for anyone who would believe in Him and welcome Him into their lives. He knew what was on the other side of the door; however, only those who believed in Him could enter. Are you ready to open that door?
In case you haven’t figured it out yet, it is humanly impossible to successfully navigate this life without help. I want to introduce you to your Comforter, your Advocate, your Wise Counsel. He is a Gift sent to you from Jesus Christ, your best Friend forever.
This precious Gift is the third Person of the Trinity – the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit gives you the power to Iive the abundant Iife promised by Jesus. He is not only with you at all times, He lives in you also.
“But you know him intimately because he remains with you and will live inside you.”
John 14:17 TPT
The Holy Spirit is also the One who constantly reminds us of sin in our lives. Many people call this knowledge our conscience when it is actually the Holy Spirit reminding us that we messed up or did something wrong – all of which is sin. The Holy Spirit is the One who convicts us of sin and draws us back to renewed life in Jesus.
Before Jesus returned to heaven, He instructed His followers to wait for this very special Gift. He knew they could not spread the Gospel around the world without supernatural help from His Spirit.
The Holy Spirit is the POWER of the Christian life.
“But I promise you this—the Holy Spirit will come upon you, and you will be seized with power. You will be my messengers to Jerusalem, throughout Judea, the distant provinces—even to the remotest places on earth!”
Acts 1:8 TPT
Power to do what?
- Jesus wants you to be a witness to everyone you meet. Share Him with others!
- You can live a happy, fulfilled Christian Iife.
- With the Holy Spirit as your personal Counselor, understanding the words and meaning of the Bible is easier.
- You will live assured and conscious of His presence within you at all times.
- You can pray according to the will of God and in agreement with the Trinity.
- Being sensitive to the Spirit means you will go where God wants you to go, do what He wants you to do and be who He wants you to be….in other words, you will fulfill your destiny planned by your Father God.
“God, the searcher of the heart, knows fully our longings, yet he also understands the desires of the Spirit, because the Holy Spirit passionately pleads before God for us, his holy ones, in perfect harmony with God’s plan and our destiny.”
Romans 8:27 TPT
To receive this Gift, you usually have to ask for Him. He is a gentleman and will not enter without your permission. Sometimes people receive Christ and the Holy Spirit at nearly the same time. You may hear this infilling of the Holy Spirit called the baptism of the Holy Spirit. There is nothing weird or abnormal about this beautiful experience.
We are commanded to be “filled continually with the Holy Spirit” (Ephesians 5:18). There is one baptism, but there are many fillings because it is not a one-time experience. Just as a car must be refilled with gasoline, we need to be constantly refilled with God’s Holy Spirit.
My parents, Charles and Frances Hunter, had heard of the Holy Spirit baptism for a few years. These comments were not favorable. They knew how to pray and asked God for “everything He had to give them.” They simply believed. They wanted to pray for the sick and see people get healed. Occasionally, an ill person did get healed. However, once they received the baptism of the Holy Spirit, their anointing soared. With Mom and Dad using these special gifts of the Holy Spirit, more and more people got healed. The change was remarkable. One could even say the change was supernatural.
Whether you once had a close relationship with all three members of the Trinity and have grown cold lately or if you didn’t know there was another member that you needed to be introduced to, pray right now! Repent for any sins, make sure Jesus is living within your heart and ask Him to send the Counselor to help you navigate this precious life.
Is it an emotional experience? The Bible doesn’t say that you will receive an “emotional experience”. It says you will receive “power.” Too many times we equate power with emotion.
Is it a daily experience? Just as Jesus Christ lives His life through our voice and hands, the Holy Spirit leads and guides us through each and every day. God’s Holy Spirit is with us as long as we are surrendered to His will every day of our lives. We can be more aware of the presence of God and His will in our lives.
The Holy Spirit is always with you to guide, protect and counsel. Read Psalms 139. You cannot get away from God. If you ignore Him (not talking or listening to Him, or not reading His Word), you are the one who has moved away from Him. He is always waiting for you to run to Him.
Will all life’s challenges disappear? No, but you have someone special to help you through each one. Worries seem to disappear. Peace follows you wherever you go. Happiness smiles back at you in the mirror each morning. Answers to questions and life’s problems seem to appear at just the right time.
Pray for all God has for you. Open your heart and arms to receive all members of the Trinity – Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
See you next time.
Blessed to be a blessing,
Joan Hunter
